We help clients develop, implement and manage their EHS program to ensure its effective integration into their workflow, culminating in maximal workforce performance.
This course lays the foundation for understanding the structure and mechanics of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), its regulations and the various applicable standards. The course also teaches OHSA’s relationship with other Acts of Parliament that are important for managing health and safety, specifically the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) and the Provincial Offences Act (POA).
Key topics covered are:
The application of OHSA, WSIA and POA
The jurisdiction of health and safety laws in Canada
The internal responsibility system and the duties of workplace parties
The enforcement of health and safety legislation
The act, its regulations and the various third-party standards are written in technical language that requires a certain level of reading comprehension. Much of the difficulties in managing workplace health & safety are centred on this issue.
This course teaches the skill of interpretation; that is, how to convert technical language into plain language so that the reader understands what needs to be done and how to actually do it at their workplace.
